I am interested in dismantling and challenging visual perception through the exploration of notions of the moving and the still. My wonder at the illusion of the moving image sparks the creation of hybrid works that sit between the precinematic and the digital, juxtaposing the material and the immaterial whilst exploring cinematic space and conventions.
Using hand powered devices that contain pencil drawings that are either pushed, pulled or cranked, or the animation of a still photograph, the addition of movement transforms and breathes life into the everyday materials, inviting the viewer to enter the work.
